How it all started...
A few years ago I decided to go back to doing the things I loved to do as a child. Looking for new energy, I asked myself: what things gave me joy? I remember making things from a young age. Building tree houses, making candles, post cards, sand drawings, knitting, writing stories and the list goes on and on. I was always creating. How could I have forgotten this important aspect of myself all those years?
I picked up drawing and registered for an illustration course in a local city. The idea was to draw on paper and edit the drawing digitally after that. But I didn’t make it to the digital part, because the process of drawing was way too much fun. Especially drawing with pen and ink, the traditional way. I love the simplicity of the process: dipping a pen in ink and making marks on the paper, focusing, being patient and quiet.
What characterizes my prints
They are powerful in simplicity. Mostly black and white, at times very detailed, it highlights interesting shapes and forms without further distraction. Less is more. I must admit that I’m not only a minimalist when it comes to my creative work. Simplicity is my life philosophy as well. Just because things can always be bigger, better or more, doesn’t mean things aren’t okay as they are today.
I love handmade and vintage stuff as well. That’s why some of my products are printed on natural, handmade papers. You’ll see the natural fibers of the paper and rags on the sides that are characteristic of handmade paper, so it stands out from your average print.
Other products appear more natural because of the wooden poster hangers.
Check out my work and I hope you’ll find an awesome print for your home, office or as a gift!
Greetings,
Marit
